Deep forest warp focuses on the natural areas in the western exterior of the Boston area. To get out there, you’ll pedal quickly on paved roads. Once there, time will slow down (or speed up), depending on your perspective of warp speed.
The first major wormhole to the deep forest begins where no trail appears to begin. But, once inside, you’ll enter a lightly used network of trails, which eventually connects to a section of the Bay Circuit Trail.
After crossing some partially submerged bridges, you’ll enter an area of gnarly singletrack through Billerica Town Forest, which will soon contrast the smooth riding to Chelmsford, for lunch. Bring your lunch to a nearby swimming and picnic spot off the immaculately paved Bruce Freeman Trail!
From there you’ll traverse through a neat birdwatching area of Nashoba Brook Wildlife Sanctuary and high-five some golfers on your way out. Shortly after, you’ll find yourself on the Estabrook Trail, which is a neat straight and slightly downhill section to Concord.
You’ll pass by the birdwatching area of the Great Meadows through to the Battle Road through a farm. Feel free to stop in if you want to check out the birds! But, you might need to stash your bike. You’ll then make several turns on some across Lexington trails to end up on the Western Greenway to end at a brewery just in time for supper!
